When Darnton Elgee, a firm of Architects, required an additional member of staff to supplement their management team, and ensure the partnership was future proofed, they sought out the expertise of Construction Headhunters.

Our client

Darnton Elgee provides a wide spectrum of services including Architecture, Project Management and Planning Supervision. The company dates back to the early 1900s and the current partnership has been in place since 1992.

The situation

The company was looking to enhance their existing team by adding the expertise of a Traditional Design Architect; a role, which they felt would compliment the team. The successful candidate would need to manage a team of twenty architects and architectural technicians under the title of “Head of Design” at associate level.
They were keen to inject some “freshness” into the company, seeking someone with drive and ambition whilst finding a real leader to direct the office.
They were looking for someone with creative ideas and a good commercial awareness whilst displaying the potential to become a future partner.
Following our meeting with the Director who was suitably impressed with our past experience of successfully placing professionals within similar positions and we were given the go ahead to begin to search for this individual.

What Elliot Marsh did

With the agreement of the management team at Darnton Elgee, this assignment was embarked upon utilising all the techniques of a full search assignment. The research team was briefed and a list of competitors was drawn up.
An advert was placed on the Elliot Marsh website to supplement the search process.
The research team approached a number of highly recommended individuals referred to us by our networking exercises and industry contacts, over a matter of a few weeks the short list was produced.

The results

The four best candidates were put forward to interview, one of which came from the advert on our company website.
The successful candidate was an established architect, running his own business in Luxembourg and the UK.
Having come across this position on our website this outstanding individual joined the business at Director level.
